Municipal Pool Lagos: Warm Water Swimming That Even Babies Love
Sometimes the sea is too cold, the waves too strong, the wind too much for little ones or there is the chance for some rainy days. That is when the Municipal Pool in Lagos saves the day. The water is super warm, the pool is rarely crowded, and the prices are reasonable. For babies especially, this is one of the best swimming options in the area.
🌡️ Why the Warm Water Matters
At the Municipal Pool, the water is heated and genuinely warm, which means babies can actually enjoy being in the water.
Since our son is 4, he can stand in the pool, which gives him a sense of independence. There is also a ramp leading into the water, which is fun for babies and toddlers to play on. It is gentle, easy, and stress-free swimming for the whole family.
📝 Important Rules (Read Before You Go)
This is a proper municipal pool with specific rules. Here is everything you need to know:
Swimwear rules: Women and girls need a swimsuit (no bikinis). Men and boys need speedos (no shorts). Babies can just wear a swim diaper.
Swimming cap required. You can buy one at reception for €4 to €5 if you do not have one.
Bathing shoes required to walk around the pool area (not in the pool itself).
Padlock: If you want to lock your belongings in the changing rooms, bring a small padlock (also available to buy there).
Keep your ticket. You need it again to exit the pool area. Do not lose it.
⏰ Best Times to Visit
This is crucial. The pool has swimming classes, and during lessons you will either be asked to leave or squeezed into a tiny corner. The best times without classes:
Monday to Friday: 13:00 to 17:00 and 19:30 to 21:00 Saturday: 16:30 to 19:00 Sunday: Closed
These were the times as of January 2026. Check at reception for current schedules.
👶🏻 With Babies
They have seats where you can safely buckle in babies who can already sit, so you can get changed yourself without juggling a slippery baby and your clothes at the same time. That is a thoughtful detail.
There are no family changing rooms, so pack two bags and put the child's things with whichever parent is taking them into the changing room.
🧸 Bring Toys
The pool has some pool noodles and floating weights, but not much else. Bring some bath toys or beach toys to keep the kids entertained. A few cups, a rubber duck, and something that floats goes a long way.
🏊 Swimming Lessons
They offer group and private swimming lessons for kids. If you are interested, go there with your child's ID or passport. Spots are often full, but you can leave your name on the waiting list.
