Vai Vem Ferry Lagos: The Cutest Mini Adventure for Families

Some of the best family experiences are the simplest ones. The Vai Vem Ferry in Lagos is a perfect example. For €1 per adult, this little ferry takes you across the water from Lagos old town to the marina side. The ride itself is not even a minute long, but for kids it is a proper boat adventure. ⛵✨

Our kids love it every single time. There is something about stepping onto a little boat, watching the water, and arriving on the other side that never gets old. Even after the twentieth time.

🚢 How It Works

The ferry runs between Lagos old town and the marina side. The skippers cross back and forth constantly, so you rarely have to wait more than a few minutes. You pay on board, cash only.

Strollers, small bikes, beach bags? No problem. Bring everything you need. The ferry is practical, not just fun.

To find it, search "Vai Vem Balsa" on Google Maps.

🏖️ Why It Is Useful

Beyond being fun, the Vai Vem Ferry is actually a really practical way to reach Meia Praia beach without driving. Take the ferry across, walk along the waterfront, and you are at Meia Praia. From there you can walk to Bahia Beach Bar for lunch. No car needed, no parking stress.

It is also a great way to break up a day of exploring. Walk through Lagos old town in the morning, take the ferry across, visit the marina playground, then ferry back. The kids feel like they have been on a real adventure.

⏰ When Does It Run?

The ferry runs daily from 9am to 5pm during high season (roughly June to October). It does not run in winter, so check if you are visiting in the off-season.

✨ Insider Tips

Combine the ferry with Bahia Beach Bar. Take the Vai Vem across, walk to Meia Praia, have lunch at Bahia. Ferry back in the afternoon. That is one of our favourite Lagos day plans.

It costs €1 per adult. Kids might be free or reduced (check on the day). It is such a small amount for so much fun.
