Dolphin Tour Lagos: A Magical Family Adventure from the Marina with SeaLife Lagos
Watching wild dolphins from a boat with your kids is one of those experiences that creates memories for life. The moment the first fin breaks the surface and the kids start screaming with excitement, you know this was the right call.
We did our tour with Sealife Lagos and it was genuinely wonderful.
π€ Why Sealife Lagos
Sealife Lagos has Marine biologists on board and were really gentle with the dolphins, no chasing or feeding or anything like that.
What we loved: the boat is bigger than the typical small speedboats that some operators use. That matters when you have kids. More space to move around, more stability, and less chance of anyone getting seasick. We were allowed to stand up when the boat slowed down near the dolphins, which gave everyone a great view.
The tour guides were super friendly and clearly passionate about dolphins. They shared interesting information about the animals, but cleverly did it before and after the actual sightings. That means during the encounters you can completely focus on watching rather than trying to listen to a presentation while dolphins are jumping.
πΆπ» With Kids
Our dolphin tour work surprisingly well with our at that time 2 year old.
Tips for families: Bring sunscreen and hats. There is limited shade on the boat. Bring snacks and water. The excitement makes everyone hungry. The boat ride is generally smooth but you are on the ocean. Go on a calmer day if possible. The crew can advise on conditions.
β° Timing and Booking
Tours depart from Lagos Marina. You will find the Sealife office among the other tour providers along the waterfront. Booking ahead is recommended, especially in summer.
Tours typically last around 1.5 to 2 hours. Morning tours are often calmer on the water.
β¨ Combine Your Visit
The marina is the perfect setting for a full family day. Take the dolphin tour in the morning, have lunch at one of the marina restaurants (like Munich), let the kids play at the Marina Playground, then take the Vai Vem Ferry across to Meia Praia for an afternoon beach session. That is a complete Lagos day.
